Our Story
My name is Zachary Elliott, creator of The Legal Drone. I have a legal and aviation background, but after studying for my Part 107 exam, I quickly realized that there needed to be a more approachable way to learn about the laws in the United States on flying your drone for money. In fact, a lot of the other study materials out there are created by people largely with just an aviation background. While this can be a really good thing, The Legal Drone was actually meant for the person without any aviation experience because in my experience, that’s a large percentage of the people looking to get their Part 107 license.
I’ve done everything I can to make sure that the material on The Legal Drone is engaging and helpful for anyone that has questions related to the Part 107 exam or flying drones for money in the United States. That’s why the first thing we did was to create a full (and FREE) Part 107 study guide.

Drone Books
The Legal Drone also has a couple of books for sale on Amazon. The first is The Drone Pilot Handbook. This puts many of the same concepts I teach on this website into a physical (or Kindle) book form. I’ve found that many people like to study in a number of different ways, and putting out the material in this format makes things more accessible for more people. This book also includes a number of test questions that are not available elsewhere.
The Legal Drone has also published The Drone Pilot Logbook as a physical (and portable) solution for keeping all of your drone flights and other information logged and organized. There are a lot of logbooks out there, but I designed this one to specifically meet the needs of Part 107 pilots. It includes space to log everything and also provides you with a number of pre and post flight checklists.
